GANs (generative adversarial networks, a form of AI) can learn various characteristics of a person in order to synthesize an artificial version. By using this technology, you can create a video that appears to show a person (say, Tom Cruise) performing a stunt (or other action) even though they never did any such thing. This technology can also be used to fabricate an entirely fictional person.

Overall, I think these are great pants. Simple and familiar BDU layout. The material is not a 50/50 poly cotton as it says on the website. It's a 35% cotton/65% poly. It's not a big deal as it's lighter weight, but i was looking for warmer pants for winter, and the description should be accurate. The fit is the most important here. The waist measurements are very accurate. Pants sits below the waist, but i wouldn't call them low-rise. A little snug in the seat and crotch but legs are loose/baggy. Military Stop Loss - To be eligible for stop loss benefits you must be a service member, veteran or beneficiary of a service member who had their service involuntarily extended between September 11, 2001 and September 30, 2009 due to Stop Loss.

For example, in the Navy, when an enlisted member retires after 20 years of active duty, they are transferred to the Fleet Reserve. They remain in the Fleet Reserve until they have a total of 30 years' service, then they are transferred to the retired rolls.

That means that, if you are a Navy retiree who retired nine years ago, you may be recalled to active duty if there is a reserve recall. If there is no state of emergency, the president can recall up to 200,000 reservists for at least 400 days.

Who Is Eligible For Military Stop Loss Benefits?

When the nation is under a state of national emergency, the president can activate up to one million reservists by his order. The rules vary, but, generally speaking, any reservist can be recalled to active duty for the duration of a declared war or national emergency, plus an additional six months.

This emergency or war declaration must be issued by Congress. If Congress isn't in session, the president can use his authority to recall them immediately. Did you know that, once you join the military, Uncle Sam may keep you there longer than you have planned -- or that you can be recalled to active duty once you get out or retire?

In order to receive Stop Loss benefits, eligible parties must submit a claim. Benefits will not be automatically distributed, therefore this important step is crucial to ensure you receive this special pay. The average benefit for eligible service members is $3,700, but your actual claim will be determined by the amount of time you were required to remain on active duty.

In conclusion, over $127 million in special pay has already been paid out to 30,000 service members from different branches of the military. It is estimated that there may be thousands of additional service members who are eligible and have not yet submitted a claim.

How To Apply For Military Stop Loss Benefits

These individuals are encouraged to submit an application for benefits before the deadline to ensure approval of this special pay. Please note that stop-loss service members who voluntarily extended their service or reenlisted and received a bonus already will not be eligible for RSLSP.

How To Submit A Stop Loss Claim

Time is running out for servicemembers eligible for Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay (RSLSP). Eligible recipients must submit an application for benefits by October 21, 2011 or miss out on the opportunity to receive benefits. Established by the 2009 War Supplemental Appropriations Act, RSLSP pays $500 per month or partial month that has been served in stop loss status.

In most instances, not every service member will be stop-lossed. There are skills-based and unit-based stop-loss programs. That means you may be kept involuntarily in the service if you have a certain valuable skill, or "in the interests of unit cohesion."

The government recently extended the deadline for eligible service members, veterans and their beneficiaries to apply for Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay (RSLSP). The original October 21st 2010 deadline has been extended to October 21, 2011, giving eligible veterans more opportunity to apply for the stop loss benefits they earned.

If a service member served in an area that is combat zone tax excluded during Stop Loss special pay, RSLSP will apply. Consult the DoD Financial Management Regulation, Volume 7A, chapter 44, paragraph 440103A for a complete list of combat zones.

Federal Employees Ordered To Serve In The Military

Applicants must supply evidence to support their claim, including personnel records, orders establishing a retirement date which was later changed due to stop loss, revocation of separation or retirement orders, and their military service record (DD Form 214) if separated from military service.

Of course, everything is different for officers. When an officer retires, their commission normally remains in force and effect forever. In return for the privilege of being legally entitled to be addressed by their military rank and getting all their retirement benefits, they basically remain an "officer of the United States" until death.

They can resign their commission, but few do. While currently not in effect, stop-loss can be activated at any time. It normally requires Congress to declare an act of war or national emergency. However, if Congress isn't in session and the president decides that it is in the national interest, he can declare a national emergency and retain any or all military members on active duty for at least six months, or until Congress gets involved.

Stop-Loss Pay Deadline Extended To October

The United States has been in a state of national emergency since Nov. 14, 1979, when Executive Order 12170 was issued by President Jimmy Carter 10 days after the start of the Iran hostage crisis. That order was continued by President Donald Trump in November 2017.
